ABOUT

The Mission

Daily expressing His Kingdom through Worshiping God, Building Relationships,
Training  People and Being
Involved in Outreach.

The Mission is a community church that was born out of Helping Hands Ministry, an emergency food assistance agency in High Point, North Carolina. Pastor John Langdon and his wife Joyce founded Helping Hands Ministry as a response to the kindness of a “Good Samaritan” who extended a helping hand to them during a time of great need in their lives.

Fifteen years later, Pastor Langdon and a group of dedicated believers formed The Mission Church to help meet the needs of the spiritual man just as Helping Hands helps meet the needs of the physical man. At The Mission, we are dedicated to helping people become disciples of Jesus Christ and to know the Lord more intimately through teaching, worship, fellowship, and outreach into both the local community and abroad.

Our desire is to Love God, Love People and Serve in the Kingdom. The Old Testament scripture known as The Shema (Deut. 6:4) says that we are to love God with all of our heart, soul, and strength. That means loving our families, our co-workers, our fellow church members, our next-door neighbors, and even our enemies. The Bible speaks often of the command for believers of Jesus Christ to meet the needs of widows, orphans, the poor and the needy. At the Mission, we believe that this is maximized by building relationships and investing in one another’s lives.

We encourage you to get to know us and let us get to know you! Spend some time here, on our website, and then join us for fellowship. We gather on Sunday mornings at 10:00 and would love to have you meet with us as we corporately worship and seek God.

If you are hungry for change in your life…If you are thirsty for times of refreshing…Come.

Our Beliefs

We believe that there is one God who has existed eternally and there is no other God but Him. We believe that He exhibits Himself through the persons of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

(Deut. 6:4;  Is. 43:10,11; Matt. 28:19; Luke 3:22)

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word; it is a picture of His love for us.  We believe that the Bible is God’s teaching and instruction to us, showing us how to live out a relationship with Him by worshiping Him and becoming a living testimony of His mercy, grace, and redemption. (2 Tim. 3:15-17; 1 Thess. 2:13;
2 Peter 1:21)

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

(Matt. 1:23; Luke 1:31,35; Heb 7:26; 1 Peter 2:22; Acts 2:22, 10:38;
1 Cor. 15:3; 2 Cor. 5:21; Matt. 28:6; Luke 24:39; 1 Cor. 15:4; Acts 1:9,11, 2:23; Phil. 2:9-11; Heb. 1:3)

We believe that sin separated man from God, but by the death of Jesus Christ on the cross and His resurrection from the grave, our penalty for sin has been paid and eternal life is a free gift to those who believe. The barrier between man and God has been removed and a restored relationship with God is now possible.

(Gen. 1:25, 27, 2:17, 3:6; Rom. 5:12-19; Luke 24:47; John 3:3;
Rom. 10:13-15; Eph 2:8; Titus 2:11, 3:5-7)

We believe that God has established his people on the earth, His Church, with Jesus as the governing head. As the Church, we are the dwelling place of God.  He dwells among us and lives in us through the Holy Spirit. And we, the Church, are the expression of His Kingdom in the earth, fulfilling the Great Commandment and Great Commission, through worshiping God, building relationships, training people and being involved in outreach.

(Eph: 1:22, 23, 2:22; Heb. 12:23)

We believe in the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. All believers should seek and expect this promise of the Father as commanded by the Son, Jesus Christ.

(Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4,8; 1 Cor. 12:1-3; Acts 8:12-17; 10:44-46; 11:14-16, 15:7-9; John 7:37-39; Acts 4:8; Acts 2:43; Heb. 12:28; Acts 2:42; Mark 16:20; 1 Cor. 12:4-10, 28)

We believe divine healing is an integral part of the gospel.  Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement and is the privilege of all believers. (Is. 53:4-5; Matt. 8:16; James 5:14-16)

We believe that Jesus will return and will take to Himself His Church so that we will eternally be with Him.

(1 Thess. 4:16-17, Rom. 8:23; Titus 2:13; 1 Cor. 15:51-52)

We believe that there is a final judgment and that those who
do not believe in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ will be eternally separated from God.

(Matt. 25:46; Mark 9:43-48; Rev. 19:20, 20:11-15, 21:8)
